ESXi friert ein (Englisch)

Beitragvon Joe-A-Kim » 26.02.2010, 09:03

Hallo zusammen.

Habe diesen Thread im VMware-Forum geöffnet, aber keiner kann helfen. Habt ihr eine Idee?

-----------

Hi there!

I've got a big problem:
For some unknown reason, one of my customer's ESXi 4.0 servers just froze for the 2nd time in 2 weeks.

- I can ping the ESXi server
- I can try to acces it via vSphere Client, but when it come to "Loading inventory..." I get a timeout.
- It's not possible to reboot or shut it down via console. (I haven't tried RCLI).
- Every connection to the VMs is lost.
- The 2nd ESXi server in the same network doesn't have any problems.

All I can do is powering off the server manually, which is not a good solution.

Here's the setup:
ESXi 4.0.0, 164009
Acer Altos G540
Intel Xeon 5140 CPU
20GB RAM
1 x RAID1 (System + VMs)
1 x RAID5 (VMs)
2 NICs

After switching the server off and on, it boots without problems, starts up the VMs without problems, and works for some time.
Now I have to make sure, that this won't happen again.

Looking at the logs, I found 1 or 2 intersting things, which might be of use. Unfortunatles my websearch didn't give me any results which would really match my problem:

vpxy.log:
2010-02-23 07:17:35.794 0x17d84b90 warning 'App' VpxaHalStats Unexpected return result. Expect 1 sample, receive 2

Is there any other information I can provide, in order to help you give me some help? :)

Thank you,

Joachim.

Looks like the service console is low on ram. Try Configuration > System Ressource Allocation > Edit and set it to an higher amount..

Eventuell auch http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/micros ... Id=1012575 probieren...

cheers Franky

P.S. Es geht natürlich auch auf deutsch ;-)
