hallo zusammen,
brauche dringend hilfe, ich habe mit der vmware workstation 6.5.2 eine vmware erstellt nun
wollte ich dies im vmware server 1.0.9 hinzufügen.
dies funktioniert aber nicht. bekomme die fehlermeldung " unable to add vm ..."
"configurations file was created by a vmware product with more features than this
version"
wie bekomme ich die vmware unter server 1.0.9 zum laufen und welche features sind
es?

Das Problem ist die v.HW-Version in der VMX und der *.vmdk_ohne_S000/F000_im_Namen. Dort steht bei der WS6.5.2 mit einer darunter aktuellen VM immer die 6, änder beide auf 4 ab und die VM sollte laufen. Allerdings solltest du die Speicherzuweisung für den VMserver unter Host - Settings - Memory auf einen vernünftigen Wert einstellen und den für VMware reservierten Arbeitsspeicher auch komplett im Host-RAM vorhalten ("Fit all reserved memory into host RAM").

Würde es helfen mit folgendem Weg:
Unter der VM Workstation 6.52 ne neue Disk hinzufügen und hier ein Image der Installation drauf machen.
Dann eine komplett neue VM erstellen, aber beim erstellen Custom und Workstation 5 auswählen. Diese dann wie die Server VM einrichten und die Disk mit dem Image aus der alten einbinden. Image rüber ziehen und sollte gehen, oder?

habe mal testweise den server 1.0.9 deinstalliert und die workstation 6.5.2 installiert,
damit läuft meine vmware problemlos. (haben ja gekaufte lizenz)
nun gut werde den vmw deinst und den vm server wieder aufspielen.

also mit dem converter habe ich jetzt die vmware auf 5.x heruntergestuft.
nun läuft sie auf dem Server aber die maus ist grauselig und vmwaretools sind installiert.
lieber wäre mir wenn die vmware laufen würde ohne das heruterstufen mit dem
converter die dsfok-tools habe ich mir mal runtergeladen. nur die vorgehnsweise ist mir
noch nicht klar sry.
wenn ich das mit der dsfo gui mache sagt er mir für diesen befehl ist nicht geügend
speicherplatz vorhanden. habe aber 21.8gb frei
