W2k Server läuft extrem langsam auf dem Hostsystem

Moin zusammen,
ich habe einen VMserver 2.0.0.1921 auf eine Fujitsu Siemens Primergy RX 300 mit AMD OPteron Quad Core Prozessor und 4 GB RAM laufen. Als Betriebsystem läuft dort Windows 2003 Server 32 bit Sp2.

Als Gastsystem habe ich einen bestehenden physikalischen Windows 2000 Server SP 4 per VMConverter in eine virtuelle Maschine überführt und im VMServer laufen.

Dem Gastsystem sind eine CPU sowie 512 MB RAM zugewiesen. Der Disk Space beträgt 12 GB in 2 GB Dateien aufgeteilt. VMTools sind installiert, die Netzwerkverbindung ist im bridged Modus realisiert.

Ich habe folgendes Problem: Direkt nach dem Start läuft das Gastsystem einigermassen flott, nach kurzer Zeit (etwa 30 Min.) friert das System fast völlig ein.

Dadurch hinkt das Gastsystem trotz in den VMTools eingestellter Synchronisation der Uhrzeit mit dem Host zeitlich dem Domain Controller hinterher, was zur Folge hat, dass keine PC aus dem Netzwerk mehr auf das Gastsystem zugreifen können, da die Zeit nicht mit dem Domain Controller synchron ist.

Bei importierten VMs musst du gerade unter 2k genau darauf achten den richtigen Kernel zu verwenden ...
Poste mal ein vmware.log - vielleicht ist deine config.ini auch Mist

Neben dem von Ulli schon angemerkten sind 512MB auch für einen W2k-basierten Server recht wenig, wenn man bedenkt wieviele zusätzliche Server-Dienste im Hintergrund noch gestartet werden.

Das Einfrieren könnte jedoch auch auf ein Problem mit dem DC hinweisen. Zwei AD-Anbieter in einer Domain können für einige Probleme sorgen.

vielen Dank schon einmal für Eure Hinweise. Ich werde als erstes einmal ein wenig mehr RAM vergeben. Ich versuche es zunächst mal mit 1024 MB, es soll nämlich noch mindestens ein weiteres Gastsystem laufen, da werde ich ja auch noch Resourcen brauchen.
