Fehler bei VMware Server für Linux 2

Nach einem Neustart des Servers erhalte ich folgenden Fehler:

Führe /etc/init.d/vmware restart aus ...

Meine Frage ist nun, wie kann ich die Dienste stoppen, damit ich die Konfiguration erneut starten kann ?

Mit etwas Abstand und nachdenken habe ich die Lösung selbst gefunden, d.h. mit kill <PID> den Task abgeschossen und dann die Konfiguration erneut durchlaufen lassen.
