USB Scanner an VMWare Workstation bringt mich zum Wahnsinn

Hallo Zusammen,
folgendes Problem, ich nutze Vista 64 Bit als Host System und VM Workstation 6.5 in der aktuellsten Version. Auf der Wokstation habe ich eine Fedora 9 Linuxinstallation ( 32 Bit ) gesetzt. An meinem Computer hängt ein HP DJ F380 Kombigerät welches vom Host aus einwandfrei funktioniert ( speziell der Scanner ). Ich habe noch 3 XP Installationen in der VMWork., auch diese können den Scanner sauber ansprechen.
Nur mein Fedora Linux packt das nicht, teils werden Schane nur halb eingescannt, teils funktioniert die Kommunikation gar nicht und Linux moniert den Scanner als besetzt.

Tja, dachte ich hängt wohl mit Linux und dem bescheidenen hplip rumgrfrickel zusammen........
Von wegen, gerade mal schnell VirtualBox 2.0.4 auf mein Vista installiert, eine Federoinstallation draufgeknallt, alles in Linux genau so konfiguriert wie in der VMWare und siehe da, klappt perfekt, Scanner läuft !
Es muss irgendwas mit dem Zusammenspiel von Linux in der VMWorkstation und den USB Support zu tun haben.

Hat jemand eine Idee ?

Hast du in der fedora VM dieselben vmx-eintraege wie in den XP-VMs ?

EDIT: Habe gerade gesehen das es genau ab heute ein neues Release auf der VMWare Page gibt ....... teste ich nachher und melde mich.

Hi, ich hänge nachher mal beide vmx Dateien ( Windows XP welches funktioniert und Fedora welches nicht funktioniert ) an diesen Thread, setze gerade den Host neu auf :D . Bei einem flüchtigen Blick in die Dateien ist mir nicht viel aufgefallen ( außer das Windows die IDE und Linux die SCSI Treiber für die Platten usw. nutzt ).
Wenn ich jetzt einfach als Gastbetriebssystem Windows XP auswähle und da dann Fedora draufnagel, funktioniert das oder stellt mir VM dann die falschen Gasterweiterungen zur Verfügung ?

Wenn du als guestOS XP eintraegst dann wird auch das windows.iso eingelegt wenn du die tools installieren willst.
Ich sehe keinen Nutzen darin - poste mal die vmx dann kann ich mal vergleichen

Hi,
wie besprochen die vmx unten folgend.
Ist eine komplette Neuinstallation der neuesten VM Workstation, neues Linux drauf und neue Tools installiert. Selbst der Vista64Bit Host ist neu aufgesetzt.
Übrigens, wenn ich vor dem Starten der VM den USB Controller aus den Setting entferne und dann wieder zufüge funktioniert genau EIN Scan unter dem Gastsystem.
Irgendwie irritieren mich die USB Einträge am Ende der Datei ...... Übrigens habe ich GENAU das gleiche Drama mit Suse 11 als Gast.

Übrigens:

ist noch ein alter Merkzettel, wurde natürlich gemacht ;-).

Hi,
habe das umgestellt, ist nun "True".
Der Scanner scannt teilweise nur halbe Bilder, teilweise gar nicht ( Gerät besetzt ) oder ( I/O Fehler ). Hin und wieder kommt wenigsten eine Voransicht in XSane sauber rein ............
Hier die aktuelle vmx, was bedeutet bei USB Devise am Schluss "hub" ?? Ich habe keinen USB HUB verbaut, eigentlich dürfte er nur den Scanner/Drucker finden, alles andere ist nicht connectet. In meinen alten Windows vmx ist der 6.0 Workstation finde ich auch diesen ominösen ""path:1/5/1 autoclean:1" nicht. Für mich sieht das nach fehlerhafter Kommunikation über den USB Connector aus.

Da man keine Anlagen mehr posten kann kopiere ich Dir noch meine log Datei hier rein..

USB und Scanner ist immer so eine Sache in einer VM. Mag für viele gehen, nicht für alle.

Groß was machen kannst du nicht. Am besten kaufst du dir Hardware, die auch mit deinem Host zusammengeht.

Eine VM zur Nutzung von Hardware, die am Host nicht geht, ist und bleibt ein Krampf.

So, nun mal VM auf ein 32 Bit Vista als Host installiert .... gleiches Problem.
Scanner agiert Hardwaretechnisch voll,beim Ende des Scan kommt der I/O Fehler in Fedora.

was mir noch auffällt ist, das wohl normalerweise beim Connectieren an die VM vom Host eine Meldung über " Sicheres Entfernen " kommen sollte, kommt bei mir nicht......
!
Wirklich niemand eine Idee ?

Guck mal deine preferences.ini durch - vielleicht hast du den hint deaktiviert ...

hint = Hinweis - in der preferences.ini steht drin welche hints deaktiviert sind

Mhhh, ich verstehe es nicht, mit VirtualBox klappt es ohne Probleme...........
Es muss am Zusammenspiel der VM mit Fedora ( oder Linux allgemein, da Suse das selbe Problem generiert ) liegen.
