Anforderungen von VmWare 5

Hallo zusammen..
was würdet Ihr sagen, besitze ein Laptop mit 1Ghz und 512MB Memory.
macht es sinn eine VmWare Workstation zu betreiben?
oder was sind die mindestanforderungen?

es ist ja entscheident was du machen willst. wenn du z.b. nur einen linuxgast brauchst geht das - sofern du dich bei der grafischen oberfläche einschränkst und fluxbox statt kde nimmst sogar richtig performant (beim kde oder gnome - oder auch bei windows-gästen mit ihrer fetten gui - geht das natürlich auch, macht aber keinen spaß und eignet sich höchstens für kurzfristige jobs aber nicht um damit zu arbeiten).

grundsätzlich gilt folgendes: wenn der host im idle-modus vor sich hin dümpelt, bekommt der gast 90 - 95 % der gesamtrechenleistung der cpu - bei einer 1ghz-cpu also etwa 900mhrz. den ram kannst du ja direkt zuweisen - pari-pari ist bei 512 mb noch gut möglich.

Memory

nimm das mit den "supported linux dirstributions" nicht so genau - vmware läuft auch auf jeder anderen distribution (allerdings ist dann eventuell ein bisschen handarbeit angesagt).
