Hallo,
ich will mit vmware server V1.08 folgendes Problem lösen:
Auf dem Host läuft Vista ultimate 32
Da es für meinen Scanner HP Scanjet 4400c keine treiber mehr gibt, dachte ich mir ich installiere mal windows XPSP1 auf einer VM, um über diese VM meinen Scanner benutzen zu können.
USB Controller sind zur VM geadded worden, Scanner hängt an einem USB 1.1 Hub .
Folgendes Problem tritt nun auf:
Das Vista (Host) erkennt den Scanner, die VM nicht.
Unter VM > removable devices > usb devices > wird mein Fritz Wlan Stick und mein LOGITECH Keyboard angezeigt.
Es kann aber kein Häckchen gesetzt werden.
Wie bringe ich nun die VM dazu meinen Scanner zu erkennen?

Ich machs unter XPSP2 immer so, daß ich den Gerätemanager nach neuen Geräten suchen lasse und die Abfrage nach neuen Treibern dabei verneine. Dann steht unten in der Taskleiste ein neues Icon und sagt mir, daß es ein Problem mit einer Hardware gibt und diese nicht verwendet werden kann. Die kann ich dann problemlos in meine VM packen.
Hast du mal probiert, den Scanner direkt ohne Hub anzuschließen?

vista host sagt dass es keine Treiber gibt.
VM erkennt den Scanner aber nicht
hatte es auch schon ohne hub probiert, allerdings habe ich irgendwo gelesen, dass usb 2.0 nicht unterstützt nicht.

jetzt kann ich bei VM > removable devices > usb devices > meinen scanner sehen
aber anklicken bzw häckchen setzen geht nicht

Kleine dusselige Nachfrage, aber der VM hast du auch einen USB-Controller hinzugefügt?

Okay. Schick mal bitte ein aktuelles Log. Vielleicht läßt sich ja was verhinderndes finden.

Wie sind eigentlich die Zugriffsrechte auf die Dateien dieser VM gesetzt?

hallo,
habe keine ahnung wo sich so eine log datei befindet ....
wie die zugriffsrechte der VM sind weiss ich auch nicht....

btw:
wenn ich die VM starte, friert mein system erst mal für ca. 1 minute ein (ram geht bis auf 100 % hoch, dann relativ weit runter, dann bootet die VM)
ist das bei dir auch so?

Das Einfrieren ist nicht normal. Deswegen ja auch eine aktuelle Log-Datei.
Die Logs finden sich im VM-Verzeichnis und heißen dann auch noch so

habe ein datei namens log.al gefunden

Schätze mal das es die falsche datei ist ...
die war im verzeichnis in dem ich vmware installiert habe.

Ja, daß ist die falsche.

Ich meinte die vmware.log-Datei und die findet sich im Verzeichnis jeder VM.

Der Server1 unterstützt nur 2 USB-Geräte. Deshalb kannst du keine weiteren Geräte hinzufügen. Bei dir sind jedoch schon Geräte von AVM und Logitech der VM zugeordnet.
Der noch bei der Workstation funktionierende Trick mit einem USB-Hub, um mehr USB-Geräte anschließen zu können, zeigte unter Server bisher leider keine Wirkung oder es hat bisher noch niemand etwas dazu geschrieben.

habe mal den AVM stick ausgesteckt
und die VM wieder restored...
System fror für fast 5 min ein.
Irgend etwas stimmt da nicht....
als die VM wieder da war gab es keine Geräte mehr unter VM > removable devices > usb devices
oh mann....
keine ahnung ob es was hilft aber ih poste noch mal das aktuelle log ...

Du hast einen Checkpoint/Snapshot gemacht und dann Hardware (AVM-Netzwerkkarte) in einer laufenden VM entfernt
Kein Wunder das sich die VM seltsam verhält.

Was verbirgt sich denn hinter dem Logitech-Gerät?

Sag mal'n bisken mehr zu deinem Host-System. Ich verstehe irgendwie nicht, weshalb du die Netzwerkverbindung über den Fritz-Wlanstick direkt in der VM machst und nicht die vorhandene Netzwerkkarte im Host einfach brückst.

das erkennt wuf einmal meinen scanner und das scannen funktioniert
keine ahnung warum
ich werde das mit vmware jetzt ruhen lassen
