USB nach Serverupdate nicht mehr nutzbar

Die Win98 Maschine kann eine AVM USB-Box ohne Problemen nutzen.

Nach einem gestrigen Update (Suse Kernel per You auf aktuellen Stand gebracht und Vmware auf 1.0.1 upgedatet) kann die Win98 Maschine das USB Gerät nicht mehr ansprechen.
Im Host ist das Gerät weiter sichtbar (lsusb) und es laufen auch weiterhin nur die notwendigen USB-Module.
Besonderheit:
Ich habe der Win98 Vmware-Konfiguration mittels einiger USB Parameter das Gerät sozusagen zwangsuntergeschoben.
Hat sich da ggf. was geändert?

Ansonsten sehe ich nur die Lösung
1)
VMware downgraden
2)
Kernel downgraden
