Update Manager Download Location

Hallo Kollegen

Habe heute meine ESX Server auf die Version ESXi 4.1 502767 aktualisiert, wie bereits letzte Woche hatte ich auch dieses mal Probleme, ich dachte letzte Woche zuerst das unser Proxy-Server der Grund währe jedoch der Fehler war die Download Lokation vom update Manager, ich erhielt folgende Fehlermeldung

[2012-01-24 22:24:10:769 'VciSigUpdateTask.SigUpdateTask{7}' 3760 ERROR] [vciSigUpdateTask, 634] There was an error downloading ESX 4x updates from :https://hostupdate.vmware.com/software/VUM/PRODUCTION/index.xml, error: System error 3: The system cannot find the path specified.; Context: Failed to create folder: D:\VMware Update Manager\Data\hostupdate.

Ich habe dann vom Dissaster vCenter (Windows 2008) alle Files auf den Haupt vCenter (Windows 2008) Manuel kopiert, und dann Remediat durchgeführt welches dann klapte:

Nun meine Frage an euch ist, wie oder wo kann ich dies einstellen das die Downloads in das Verzeichnis D:\VMware Update Manager\Data\hostupdate durchgeführt werden, ich möchte nicht wieder das Manuel machen müssen, auf der Disasster Seite klappt es ja fehlerfrei, (Sorry ich habe die Umgebung übernommen und nicht selber konfiguriert)

Da hab ich aber jetzt ein Problem, da steht ja schon die richtige Lokation:

was meinst Du warum er nicht schreiben kann?

Der Update Manger erstellt doch die Folder Struktur selber, oder muss ich das immer zuerst Manuel erstellen damit es dann klappt?

Berechtigungen mal ueberpuefen und ansonsten halt einen #SR bei VMware aufmachen.

War das nicht so, das in der XML Datei der Pfad nicht mit Backslash, sondern mit Slash angegeben werden muss.

Open the vci-integrity.xml file. The default file location is C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\Update Manager\vci-integrity.xml.
Search for patchStore. You see something similar to:

Note: Your new directory is empty and does not contain valid metadata. Copy the old directory's data or run the VMware Update Manager download update.

Replace the location with the preferred location.
Save and close the file.
Restart the Update Manager Service. Right-click My Computer > Manage > Services and Applications > Services > VMware Update Manager Server > Restart.

To change the download location for plugins:

Open the vci-integrity.xml file. The default file location is C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\Update Manager\vci-integrity.xml.
Search for docRootHostUpdates.

You see something similar to:

<path>C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\VMware Update Manager\Data\</path>
</docRootHostUpdates>

Replace the location with the preferred location.
Save and close the file.
Reboot the server or right-click My Computer > Manage > Services and Applications > Services > VMware Update Manager Server > Restart.

Note: Do not remove the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\VMware Update Manager\Data\ directory.
You may remove or delete the contents of the following directories, but you must leave the directory structure intact:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\VMware Update Manager\Data\hostupdate
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\VMware Update Manager\Data\vm-patch-binaries
