Kein Wunder - deine vmx ist fuer WS 6 - also veraltet

du brauchst

monitor.virtual_mmu = "hardware"
monitor.virtual_exec = "hardware"

wenn sich der erste Parameter auf softweare umstellt dann macht das nichts.
Wenn sich der zweite auf Software umstellt dann brauchst du ne andere CPU

achja - stell die 3d funktionen ab - das ist reine RAM-verschwendung

Hab die vmx angepasst un d er stoppt wieder bei "VM Kernel loaded successfully" .

Hab nen Intel Core 2 CPU 6400 2.13 GHz..ist das nen Problem?!

Sorry, einen Fehler hab ich selbst noch entdeckt, ich hab im BIOS jetzt die Virtualisierung aktiviert.

Allerdings beim booten keine Veränderung...

Hardware virtualization is disabled in the host's BIOS/firmware. Using software virtualization instead.


Hast du einen Coldboot nach der Umstellung im BIOS gemacht ?

Also, gestern nicht direkt..aber der PC war über Nacht aus und heute Morgen gings auch noch nicht...

Langsam verzweifle ich...hab mich schon durch alle Beiträge gekämpft und versucht alles anzupassen, aber es geht einfach nicht.. :-/

Ich hab das monitor.virtual_mmu = "hardware" auf "Software" geändert und nu läuft der mist auf einmal..ich bin mir zwar fast sicher das ich das so vorher schon probiert hab, aber ist mir nu egal:-D

Hallo

Ich hatte ja damals das Problem das ESX unter Vmware Workstation meine CPU nicht kannte und im Software Modus lief, glaubt ihr wenn ich ESX unter Vmware Server testen wuerde ginge das ?

Warscheinlich nicht, es brauch ne neuere AMD CPU

Dachte nur :)

Habe schon alles mögliche probiert mit meinen AMD Opteron 1280.

Du schriebst ja auch schon das es bei AMD erst ab einer gewissen version läuft.

Wird wol keinen unterschied machen ob ich esx als Gast auf einen ESX oder Vmware Server laufen lasse, die CPU wird passen müssen oder?
Vmware Workstation schrieb mir beim starten immer das meine CPU die Hardware virtualisierung nicht kann.
Obwol sie es kann.
Naja Esx 3.0 läuft als Virtuelle maschiene.

Wie schon gesagt geht AMD fuer ESX 3.5 erst ab Phenom - oder 10A

Wenn es in der WS 6.5 nicht geht - wird es in VMserver 2 erst recht nicht laufen

Also ich habe 2 Hosts mit gemeinsamer san.Schmirt mir Host 1 ab verliehr ich ja die Ram informazionen ....
Versteh ich nicht hast du das getestet das fault toleranz?

Bekommt man so ne Beta irgendwo her?

is noch ne private Beta unter NDA, und jeder, der Dir näheres drüber sagt, müsste Dich danach erschießen :grin:

Aber fault tolerance wurde in Vegas auf der VMworld im September demonstriert, sieht sehr eindrucks voll aus. Geht wirklich OHNE RAM-Verlust. Das hast Du richtig verstanden.
Die Technik gibt schon länger, man kommt nur nicht gleich drauf:
Such mal nach Record/replay bei der VMware Workstation, und stell Dir nen ständigen Replay auf nem anderen Server vor 8)

Schau mal hier im Forum, ich hab glaub ich mal nen Link gepostet mit nem Demo-Video.

Wieviel RAM

Hi,
hab jetzt meinen Lenovo Desktop mit einem Bios-Update auf Sockel AM2+ und einem AMD Phenom tauglich gemacht für WS 6.5 und ESX.
Der ESX-Start dauert ca. 1-2 Minuten. Ich gehe mal davon aus, dass es OK ist, da ja auch iSCSI-LUN´s von OpenFiler konnektiert werden.
Eine XP-VM startet in der Umgebung auch einwandfrei, nur ist alles ziemlich träge. In meiner Maschine sind 4GB RAM verbaut. Davon hab ich jetzt 2x 1024 für die 2 ESX-Server. 512 für den OpenFiler und 512 für den VC-Server. Das ist mal eindeutig zu wenig.

Um jetzt mehr Speicher anzusprechen, will ich mir demnächst WinXP 64bit besorgen und 8GB RAM.

Wieviel Speicher habt Ihr für eine ähnliche Konfig in Euren System verbaut? Wieviel Speicher legt Ihr auf welche Maschinen?

Aber: es macht wenigstens warm beim Starten 8)

Definitiv Zeit für nen neuen Laptop, gott sei dank is bald Weihnachten :grin:

Hallo,

auf einem Sony Notebook - VAIO VGN-SR29VN/S gibt es nicht die Möglichkeit, die Virtualisierung im BIOS zu aktivieren. Auf diesem Notebook konnte ich ESX Server 3.5 auf VMware Workstation 6.5 - 118166 installieren, jedoch nicht starten.
Frage hierzu: Wird das Starten eines ESX Servers und darauf VMs auf einem Notebook ohne Möglichkeit der Aktivierung der Virtualisierung unter keinen Umständen möglich sein.

Ansonsten, welche aktuellen Modelle sind für die Virtualisierung (2 x ESX Server + VMs + VCS) am besten geeignet bzw. mit welchen Modellen habt ihr gute Erfahrungen gemacht.

Im VMTN gibt es einen sehr langen post dazu - les dir den mal durch - du musst evtl. das BIOS des notebooks updaten
