Fullscreen-Problem im Text-Modus

Hallo!

Ich benutze VMWare Workstation 5.5 (z.Zt 5.5.4 build-44386) unter OpenSuSE 10.2 (KDE 3.5.7 "release 35.1") mit Original NVIDIA-Treiber (Version 1.0-9631) auf einem

DELL PRECISION M90 Notebook
mit NVIDIA Quadro FX 2500M
und SEIKO SEC KH164 LCD Monitor
betrieben mit einer Auflösung von 1024x768 bei 24 bit Farbtiefe.

Seit der Installation von OpenSuSE 10.2 i.V.m. VMWare Workstation 5.5 (alle Releases) habe ich im bei Fullscreen-Darstellung im Text-Modus (80x25) immer einen x-Versatz des Bildes und durch mehrere schwarze Zeilen unterbrochene Zeichen.

Ich hatte ursprünglich eine VMWare Workstation 5.0 unter OpenSuSE 10.0 (auch mit Original NVIDIA-Treiber) installiert unter der das Problem nicht auftrat.

Hat dazu vielleicht jemand eine tolle Idee? Ich benutze vielfach noch virtuelle DOS-Maschinen, bei denen Fullscreen-Dastellung im Text-Modus durchaus sinnvoll ist.

dort bekam ich folgende Antwort:

I've seen a few reports of this. My investigation showed that VMWare is requesting an interlaced mode when it goes to full screen, which results in the problem that you're reporting. This is a VMWare bug.

You can attempt to work around it with the ModeValidation option, by disallowing interlaced modes. You'll need to generate a verbose bug report per the sticky post if you need further assistance.

but the only available 800x512 mode in the modepool is a doublescan mode, which is basically getting treated as an interlaced mode.

The only way to work around this is to add the following to the Device section of xorg.conf:
Option "ModeValidation" "NoXServerModes"

Das funktioniert auch, ist aber nur ein "work around" und kein "fix".
