Hallo Leute,

mein Host ist XP Prof SP2, der Gastrechner ist Linux 10.0, Kernel 2.6.13-15 Die VM-version ist 4.5.2 build-8848.

Nun mein Problem:
VMware und Linux ist schon installiert. Nun versuche ich schon eine Weile die VM-tools zu installieren. Hab schon mehr mals das Problem in anderen Foren gesehen, leider ohne Lösung.

Zuerst läuft alles standartmäßig:

doch dann kommt der Salat:

The filesystem driver (vmhgfs module) is used only for the shared folder
feature. The rest of the software provided by VMware Tools is designed to work
independently of this feature.

Hm, so richtig schlau werde ich da auch nicht raus. Ist denn sichergestellt, dass alles installiert ist? Siehe Meldung:

making sure that gcc, binutils, make
and the kernel sources for your running kernel are installed on your machine

Nur so eine Idee, insbesondere das "kernel-source-Paket" wird schnell vergessen.

Hab alles installiert, glaube das das Problem daran liegt, das Suse 10 einfach nicht unterstützt wird.

hmm mach mal ein Onlineupdate.Oder sind Kernel und Kernelsourcen schon upgedatet?

So gehe mal in der Shell als root nach /usr/src/linux bzw. Befehl "ls -l /usr/src/linux"

Befehl
"make mrproper"
(macht richtig sauber)

Befehl
"make oldconfig"
(wie der Name schon sagt)

Befehl
"make"
(baut den Kernel nach und Dauert lange!)

wenn fertig probier noch mal

wenn du alles andere ausser vmhgfs installieren kannst, dann hast du eigentlich kein Problem.
Ich rate zum Beispiel sowieso allen Leuten auf die shared-folders Geschichte zu verzichten.

Habe es auch schon probiert, leider ohne Erfolg. Deshalb hab ich mir die 30 Testversion VMware 5.5.1 build 19175 installiert. Da hatte ich zwar keine Probleme die Tools zu installieren, aber dafür Probleme mit NAT. Wollte mal aus Interesse aus Linux einen traceroute auf eine Internetseite machen. Leider hat es nicht funktioniert.
Mit der alten Version ging es problemlos.
