ich will von 10.0.5 auf 10.0.6 updaten, und nach der Bestätigung der Deinstalltion kommt die Fehlermeldung:

Dann ist Abbruch des Setups und fertig .....

Weiss jemand, was das zu bedeuten hat?

Nach dem /Clean evtl. noch mal in der Registry gucken ob noch Reste rumliegen. Das ganze auch immer schoen mit Administrator Rechten machen.

Wie so manches bei VMware wird das zur kleinen Herausforderung. Also: Build 5 sollte durch 6 ersetzt werden.

To resolve this issue:

Use MD5 hash to test the checksum and determine if the downloaded installer is corrupt. For more information, see Using MD5 Checksums.
If the checksum displayed on the screen does not match the one displayed on VMware's download page, re-download the installer.

MD5 is OK, also entfällt Schritt 2.

If the issue is not resolved:

Download the previous version of Workstation installer from the Workstation Download Center. Start the installation process using the installer downloaded in step 2 above.

Also ich soll V5 downloaden (was nach einigem 'unable to request'-Gezicke auch gelang, und dann die im Schritt 2 nicht geladene, nicht funktionierende V6 installieren?

Select the Remove option when prompted.
Follow the on-screen instructions. This uninstalls the older version of the product.

Hat geklappt, aber nach dem Aufruf von V5 statt V6.

Restart the physical machine.

Das war nicht so schwierig.

Open a command prompt and change directory to the folder that contains the uninstalled version of VMware Workstation.

Ich soll zum Ordner der soeben deinstallierten Version gehen? Der ist ja nicht mehr da ...
Offensichtlich eine Doppeldeutigkeit von "uninstalled": Hier nicht "deinstalliert" (das alte), sondern "nicht installiert" (das neue).

Run the command:

VMware-workstation-full-x.x.x.exe /clean

Where x.x.x is the version number of workstation installer

Das begrüsst mich "Error: BadArguments for CDelete ....".
Dann habe ich das "Clean" weggelassen und normal installiert.

Restart the physical machine.

Das hat geklappt.

Start the installation of the new upgrade version of VMware Workstation downloaded from the Workstation Download Center.

Das hat sich erübrigt, weil es schon oben installiert wurde. Build 6 ist jetzt drauf und kann auch gestartet werden, Problemchen sind noch abzuwarten ...
