I am experiencing a strange Bug with WMWare Workstation 6.5.3 on a Gentoo-Host and a Windows-XP-Guest. The Guest has VMWare-Tools installed, and almost anything works really fine, except the following Bug :
As you all know, VMWare-Tools enables the functionality to "autoswitch" between Host and Guest, by simply moving the cursor in/outside .. But although quite all the resolution-settings are fine, my cursor inside the XP-VM behaves as if the resolution of the Guest-OS is "smaller"...that means it is annoyingly flickering, if I try to move the cursor to the lower-right areas.. just as if the Host-OS doesn`t know about the correct resolution inside the VM, but the VMWare-Tools-installation trys to "pull" the cursor back in.. so it`s "flickering between" the systems.. rendering the VM partly unusable. It`s really hard to describe, with my poor english, I hope it is understandable what I mean.. I tried to change any possible settings, switched to any different kind of display mode, but nothing helps.
Indeed, the "working" part of the screen is just as big as the resolution when booting up the VM. Perhaps there is a way to manually set the Guest-resolution to a fixxed value? As I said, I believe the bug is based on the Host-OS not "updating" the new resolution correctly, when it changes inside the VM after bootup.

Folgendes Problem, nochmal in Kurzfassung :
Meine Windows-XP-SP3-VM startet mit einer sehr niedrigen Startauflösung im Bootscreen, (normal) und wechselt dann, sobald Windows die Grafiktreiber etc. geladen hat, auf die korrekte Auflösung. Problem ist nur, dass scheinbar die VMWare-Tools-Integration dies garnicht mitbekommt, und sobald ich die Maus in den unteren oder rechten Bereich (ausserhalb der Startauflösung) ziehe, denkt mein Host-OS (Gentoo-Linux) scheinbar, dass ich den Mauszeiger aus der VM bewegt habe.. die VMWare-Tools-Installation im Windows versucht jedoch logischerweise den Cursor in der VM zu aktivieren (was ja korrekt wäre), was bewirkt, dass mein Cursor zwischen der VM und dem Host-OS "hin- und herflackert" .. ergo ist nur der Bereich in der VM bedienbar, der der Windows-Boot-Auflösung entspricht.
Gibt es eine Möglichkeit die Auflösung der VM im Host manuell fest zu definieren? Also so dass mein Gentoo über die höhere Auflösung der VM "Bescheid weiß" ?? Ich habe in den Foren bisher nur die Möglichkeit gefunden über das .vmx-File die maximale Auflösung zu definieren, ich würde jedoch gern auch eine minimale Auflösung setzen.. am besten min. und max. - Einstellung auf die gleichen Werte, so dass die VM immer mit einer fest definierten Auflösung startet ..
