VMware unter Fedora 9 -> Stabilitätsprobleme

Hallo.

Ich versuche folgendes einzurichten:

Hardware:
AMD Athlon X2 64 Bit 4200+
Asus M2A-VM Motherboard
4 GB RAM (4x 1GB GEIL) DDR2-667
2x 1TB HDD
1x 500GB HDD
1x 250GB HDD

Software:
Fedora Core 9 64Bit als Fileserver mit Samba und Primary Domain Controller
VMWare und darin ein Windows XP SP3 das eine Dongle-Software laufen lässt.

Mein Problem:
Ich installiere alles und das System friert nach ca. 12h ein. Reproduzierbar.

Meine bisherige Analyse:
1. Da die Dongle-Software recht viel auf die HDD schreibt, hat die VM eine 2te HDD bekommen mit 100GB fest zugeordnetem Platz. => Friert ein.
2. VM neu erstellt und die alte Installation weggeworfen. Prime 95 installiert. -> Friert ein.
3. Fedora Core 9 neu installiert. Keine Samba Konfiguration. Komplettes update (yum update all) Nicht benötigte Dienste entfernt (ISDN, etc) VMware diesmal nicht über das RPM sondern über das .tar.gz installiert. VM neu erstellt. Prime 95 installiert -> friert ein.
4. VM neu erstellt. Diesmal Seti@Home zum testen verwendet. -> friert ein.
5. VM nicht in der Workstation sondern im Player laufen lassen -> friert ein.

Ich bin jetzt leider nicht der Linux Profi, und werde nicht schlau aus dem Mist.
In den Linux Log Files (ich kenne jetzt nur /var/log/messages und dmesg) finde ich keine brauchbare Fehlermeldung.
Wird sonst noch wo von VMware ein Log erstellt?

Ich hab eine Ubuntu CD gebootet, das .bundle (das es für Fedora anscheinend nicht gibt) installiert und das System lief 5 Tage ohne Probleme durch.

Wäre für Hilfe wirklich dankbar.

Hi, kann dir keinen wirklichen tip geben, wo du noch schauen könntest, aber wenn du mit einem anderen Derivat keine Probleme hattest, wieso wechselst du nicht das Linux-Derivat und verwendest ein anderes?

Ist natürlich keine Lösung sondern nur eine Umgehung.

Bin selbst leider auch nicht sonderlich überzeugt von Fedora, hatte damit selbst schon einige Stabilitätsprobleme.

Würde ich ja gerne, aber der Kunde will RedHat bzw Fedora, da das schon wo anders im Einsatz ist. Kann ich eigentlich verstehen.

Ich hab grad keine CD da, aber ab Montag werde ich dann mal mit RHEL 5 testen, um zu sehen ob es sich dort anders verhält.
