So my question to the VMWare developers, what are the plans to bridge this gap in performance?

We as a company have neglected the performance of hosted products (not just Fusion, but also Workstation on Linux/Windows) for too long, in favor of a strong performance effort focused on our server product (VMware ESXi).

This wake-up article from macworld has definitely sparked some internal discussions at VMware. I expect good things to come out of these discussions...

Unter uns: Fusion existiert nur, weil Parallels vorher den Desktop for Mac auf den Markt warf. Und VirtualBox nimmt man wohl bei VMware nicht ernst ...
Wir alle wissen doch, daß man in Palo Alto nur die Enterprise-Kunden im Auge hat. Da sind diese "Abfallprodukte" doch nur .... naja ... störend. Die Hosteds haben sie nur noch, weil man nicht gegen die anderen Marktteilnehmer nicht dumm dastehen will ...

Und mit der Einstellung wird das auch nie was werden, nicht solange man einfach nur seinen bisher guten Ruf ausnutzt um halbherzig gebastelte Produkte im Markt durchzudrücken ...

Sehe ich nicht so. Die Workstation zum Beispiel ist für VMware extrem wichtig! Dort werden neue Features getestet und ausserdem ist es noch immer das meistverkaufte Produkt
