Datastorage wird aufeinmal nicht mehr erkannt

Hallo Forum,
ich bin neu hier und sehr verzweifelt.

Ich habe esxi 5.1 auf einem Leovo RD430 Server am laufen. Dieser ist bis gestern wunderbar gelaufen. Auf einmal war keine VM mehr erreichbar.

im Vsphere Client werden alle VMs nur als Unknown (kein Zugriff) angezeigt.
Beim Suchen Nach Datastorage wird nichts gefunden.

Neustart des Servers
Im POST werden alle HDDs gefunden aber sobald der esxi hochgefahren ist wird nichts mehr gefunden.

Woran kann das liegen?

was hat sich geändert? Updates eingespielt?
Zeigt ein fdisk auf der Konsole die Platten noch an?
Steht was in den Logfiles was Hinweise auf die Urache geben könnte.

geändert hat sich seit 1,5 Jahren nichts außer in den VMs

Es wurden keine updates o.ä eingespielt.
wie meinst du fdisk auf der Konsole? Ich hab mit einem DOS USB Stick gebootet und fdisk mal laufen lassen alles i.o

welche logfiles würden helfen?

Der ESXi hat eine Konsole. Einfach mal Alt+F1 druecken. Sollte diese ESXi Shell deaktiviert sein so kann man sie in den TroubleShooting Options aktivien. Einfacher ist es aber dem ESXi zusagen er soll einen SSH starten und du verbindest dich dann per "putty" oder einem ssh Client deiner Wahl.

Dann ein "fdisk -l" und die Aussage hier posten. Dazu auch den letzten Abschnit aus dem vmkernel.log nachdem du eine Rescan aller HBAs gemacht hast.

Ich habe da in dem fdisk irgendwie nichts gesehen. Kannst du mal gucken ob ein partedUtil mehr anzeigen wuerde?

Wie gross war denn der Datastore /LUN welche nun vermisst wird?

Leute - es ist 2016 !!!
Hört auf mit fdisk an VMFS-volumes herumzu spielen !!!!
Ein DOS-USB-stick mit einem uralt fdisk hat an nem aktuellen ESXi höchstenfalls etwas innerhalb einer DOS-VM verloren.
Auch das etwas neuere fdisk das im ESXi verbaut wurde gehört in die Tonne.

Grund 1: fdisk kann keine grossen Partitionen erkennen - schon gar nicht unter DOS.
Grund 2: fdisk lann den Partitionstyp nicht anzeigen weil ganz banal die Definitionen fehlen.
Im Screenshot sieht man dann für alles Typ 0700 - bedeutet Microsoft Datenpartition und kann sowohl für NTFS als auch FAT erscheinen.

Partitionstabellen unter ESXi schaut man sich per partedUtil an:

partedUtil getptbl /dev/disks/<device>

Einen schnellen Überblick kann man sich auch so zeigen lassen:

Einen Schnelltest zum prüfen ob ein device ein VMFS-volume hat geht so:
cd /dev/disks
hexdump -n $((0x100000)) -s $((0x100000)) -C mpx.vmhba1\:C0\:T0\:L0:1 | grep -c "0d d0 01 c0"
1


Kommt als Resultat eine 1 sieht es gut aus.

Zu deinem Problem - mit dem dos fdisk hast du evtl Schaden angerichtet der die Reparatur schwierig machen könnte.
Falls die Daten wichtig sind - ruf an wenn du dies liest.
Ich mach sowas so häufig dass ich dir ziemlich schnell sagen kann , wie die Lage ist.
Bitte bis dahin NICHTS weiter unternehmen.
