ich hab das als Info von Netapp bekommen. Für alle die die VSC 4.0 im Einsatz haben:

VSC 4.0 for VMware Provisioning and Cloning deletes container volume upon destruction of VMFS datastore LUN even if it is not the last LUN in the volume

Summary
Within the Virtual Storage Console (VSC) 4.0 for VMware® vSphere®, if the advanced option "Delete a volume if the last LUN in it has been deleted" is enabled on a NetApp® controller, destroying a VMFS datastore (a LUN) will subsequently unmount and destroy the container volume, including any LUNs that may have been in the root of the volume.
