VMPlayer startet nicht unter Kubuntu

Hallo,

ich habe mir heute den VMPlayer 6.0.1 64bit unter Kubuntu installiert. Die Installation verlief problemlos. Allerdings kann ich den VMPlayer nicht starten. Die Konsole gibt folgendes aus:

vmplayer
Logging to /tmp/vmware-smaxyx/vmware-modconfig-9172.log
Abgebrochen (Speicherabzug geschrieben)


Und das entsprechende Log-File:

Habe auch schon folgendes ausgeführt:
sudo vmware-modconfig --console --install-all

Aber alles ohne Erfolg. Hat jemand eine Idee, weshalb VMPlayer nicht starten will?

Mein Kernel ist:
3.11.0-12-generic #19-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 9 16:20:46 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Die im ArchLinux-Thread genannten Tipps sind auch unter Kubuntu gültig und bedürfen ansonsten wie dort einer Anpassung.

Hallo,

den ArchLinux-Thread hatte ich schon gelesen. Bei mir funktioniert der Befehl "vmplayer" aber auch als root nicht.

Und nach einem:
sudo vmware-modconfig --console --install-all

laufen auch alle services:

make: Verlasse Verzeichnis '/tmp/modconfig-hQgeDe/vmnet-only'
Starting VMware services:
Virtual machine monitor done
Virtual machine communication interface done
VM communication interface socket family done
Blocking file system done
Virtual ethernet done
VMware Authentication Daemon done
Shared Memory Available done


Trotzdem lässt sich VMPlayer nicht starten.

Ist etwas zum Player-Start in "/var/log/messages" eingetragen?

Nein, in den message-files steht leider nichts zum PlayerStart drin.

Ist das normal, dass im "vmware-installer" log jedesmal dieser Eintrag generiert wird, wenn ich als root "vmplayer" in der konsole eingebe?

Für mein Verständnis ist der Player überhaupt nicht vollständig installiert. Schau mal bei ubuntu 13.10 + windows 8.1 + vmware player 6.0.1 = success vorbei und folge dort den roten gefärbten Links.

Falls es damit nicht klappt, bist du auf eine neue Player-Version angewiesen.

Zufällig der NVidia Treiber 331.20 installiert?
